Participant Waiver & Release


By signing this agreement, I acknowledge and agree as follows:

1. Assumption of Risk

I understand that participation in martial arts, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), and related activities at Shaolin Tigers STMA – Wokingham (“the Gym”) involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Physical contact with other participants

  • Collisions, throws, falls, choking, or strangulation

  • Dehydration, overexertion, or other physiological strain

  • Equipment failure or misuse

  • Ordinary negligence of instructors, staff, volunteers, or other participants

I voluntarily accept these risks and assume full responsibility for any injury, illness, or loss that may occur as a result of my participation.

2. Release and Waiver of Liability

I release and discharge Shaolin Tigers STMA – Wokingham, its instructors, staff, volunteers, and agents from any liability for personal injury, property loss, or other harm resulting from ordinary negligence.
I understand that this waiver does not limit liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any legal obligations under UK law.

3. Indemnity

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Gym, its staff, and agents from any claims, damages, or costs arising from my actions or those of other participants during activities.

4. Health and Fitness

I confirm that I am physically fit to participate in martial arts activities and have consulted a doctor if necessary. I understand I may stop training at any time if I feel unwell.

5. Membership Terms & Cancellation Policy

I acknowledge that I have read and accept the Gym’s Membership Terms & Conditions, Cancellation Policy, and any associated payment obligations.

6. Media Consent

I consent to be photographed, videotaped, or recorded during activities and allow the Gym to use such media for promotional purposes, including marketing and social media, worldwide, without compensation.

7. Legal Provisions8. Acknowledgment

  • This agreement is intended to be as broad as allowed under the laws of England & Wales.

  • If any part is held invalid, the remainder will remain in effect.

  • Any legal proceedings will be conducted in England.

  • I confirm that I am at least 18 years old, or if under 18, my parent/guardian has signed this agreement on my behalf.


8. Acknowledgment

By ticking the “I accept” checkbox during the membership sign-up process, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and voluntarily agree to:

  • This Waiver & Release of Liability

  • The Gym’s Membership Terms & Conditions

  • The Gym’s Cancellation Policy

I understand that my checkbox submission constitutes a legally binding agreement, equivalent to a signed document, and that I am entering into this agreement voluntarily and of my own free will. I confirm that I am at least 18 years old, or that my parent/guardian has provided consent if I am under 18.
